KAZAN Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov and Yusup Yakubov, Rector of the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, are on an official visit to the United States where they study the American experience of managing sporting events.

Within their three-day trip to Georgia, Vladimir Leonov and Yusup Yakubov will visit a number of top universities of the state and inspect their sports infrastructures. In particular, they will view the Ramsey Center (the athletic facility of Western Carolina University), a student campus, and will have a meeting with Greg McGarity, Athletics Director of the University of Georgia.

The key topic on the agenda of the meeting of Tatarstan’s sports managers with their US colleagues will be the preparation process for the Kazan 2013 Summer Universiade which leads to the necessity of training highly qualified experts in the field of physical culture and sports and use of modern marketing strategies in managing and operating university sports infrastructure.

«Just imagine: the football stadium of the University of Georgia seats 94,000 spectators. And it’s always crowded during the matches!Atlantais a sports capital of the US, the same is Kazan for Russia. I daresay we will team up well», Vladimir Leonov wrote on his Twitter account.

Its stands to note that the United States boasts the highest level of university sports development in the world. Even when studying in high school, American students successfully perform in international competitions and defend their country’s honor. The experience gained from leading American universities will be a significant help to a dynamic development of university sports in Russia, particularly in Tatarstan.
