ULYANOVSK – The ‘Universiade in Your City!’ train with the FISU Flag Relay delegates on board arrived inUlyanovsk on September 11th.
A warm welcome awaited the FISU Flag Relay participants at the railway station ofUlyanovsk. The Kazan 2013 delegates were surprised to be greeted with the music of a brass band; among other greeters were students of leading universities and institutes of the Ulyanovsk Region, military students of Ulyanovsk Higher Civil Aviation School, as well as activists of youth organizations headed by Sergey Terekhin, Director of the Department of Youth Policy of the Ulyanovsk Region.
On behalf of the Kazan 2013 delegation, Larisa Sulima, Chief of Staff of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, extended her sincere greeting to citizens ofUlyanovsk. «Ulyanovsk is the sixth city on the route of the FISU Flag Relay. Today we delivered an international relic in your city, a relic that has been charged with the positive energy of University Games participants, as well as of youth from Izhevsk, Perm, Ufa, Orenburg and Samara. I believe that, after today’s events promoting sports, spirit of youth and friendship, you would embrace the atmosphere of the Universiade!» Larisa Sulima said.
The traditional hundredweight of salt and chak-chak were presented to colleagues from Ulyanovsk, together with chocolate sweets, a present sent to Ulyanovsk from Samara.
The FISU Flag Relay-related key festivities proceeded in Ulyanovsk State University which hosted the meeting of students of the Ulyanovsk Region and Tatarstan, as well as a ceremony of signing a cooperation agreement between the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate and five higher education institutions of Ulyanovsk. Later on,Lenin Squarebecame a venue for the Greeting Card 2013 and ‘We Vote for PEACE!’ events, and the ‘Universiade in Your City!’ gig which saw the attendance of Ulyanovsk Region Governor Sergey Morozov.
