2011 SU Update: The Universiade Village: a Participant’s Dream

SHENZHEN – It lacks nothing. It has everything necessary and more to accommodate more than 10,000 athletes and officials from the 152 participating countries. The Village of Shenzhen is one of the magnificent works destined for the Universiade.

It is located in the Longgang District in the area of ​​the Shenzhen Polytechnic University on a site of 492,000 square meters, of which 478,000 are covered with some impressive buildings.

The main entrance has a large basin of transport. A subway station and bus station that lead to athletes and visitors to the Village.

The site hosts more than 10,000 athletes and officials from the 152 participating delegations, but in turn has buildings executives, a polyclinic, shops and other facilities, that after the Universiade will be transferred to the use of the Polytechnic University of Shenzhen.

It is impossible to walk the Village on foot in a couple of minutes, because it is huge.
Therefore, the OC uses electric golf carts where up to 10 people can fit in, which taxi the Village.

The deployment is impressive. Over a thousand volunteers do a great job, always with the characteristic friendliness of the Chinese people, meeting the needs of athletes, officials and media.

With a unique environment, near the mountains and many natural areas, the Universiade Village of Shenzhen is another place of dreams in this wonderful city that continues to surprise.
