2011 SU Update: Ukraine Sends 316 Participants to Shenzhen

KIEV A festive see-off ceremony for Ukrainian athletes going to 26th Summer Universiade 2011 was held at the Sports and Training Olympic Centre ‘Sviatoshyn’ on August 5th.

Ukraine will be represented by 316 envoys, among them 293 athletes and trainers, 15 judges and referees and 8 staff officials. TeamUkrainewill take part in 20 sports events. It consists of the members of national student teams and best university athletes, including 22 track-and-field athletes, 21 fencers, 20 footballers, 17 archers, 12 basketball players, 10 gymnasts, 10 divers and 7 chess players.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk, President of the Ukrainian Student Sport Union Vasyl Kremen, Head of the Physical Education and Sports Committee with the Ministry of Education and Science Youth and Sport of Ukraine Viacheslav Gamov, Vice-Principal in Sports of the National University of Physical education and Sports of Ukraine, Secretary General of the Ukrainian Weightlifting Federation, member of the National Olympic Committee Aleksander Putsov and athletes – members of the official youth delegation.
