ULAANBAATAR – On August 2nd, MSSF organized a fairway ceremony for the Mongolian delegation heading to the 2011 Summer Universiade. The ceremony took place in the Central Sports Palace in Ulaanbaatar city which was attended by Mr. Lambaa S., Parliament and Government member and the Minister of Sports; Mr. Otgonbayar E., Minister of Education, Mr. Naranbaatar Ch., Chairman of State Authority for Physical Culture and Sports – Implementing agency of Mongolian Government; Mr. Bayasgalan D.,FISU Treasurer and President of NUSF Mongolia; Mr. N. Byambagerel; Secretary General of the Mongolian Student Union and Mr. Jargalsaikhan D., Secretary General of the NUSF Mongolia, Assessor of AUSF andFISU CIC member who presented their sincere greetings to all delegation members and wished success to athletes and leaders of the 13 involved sports federations and universities leaders.
The ceremony was attended by all Mongolian participants who go to Shenzhen, involving 157 delegates, with university students involved in 13 sports including artistic gymnastics, swimming, tennis, judo, table tennis, shooting, badminton, cycling, archery, chess, aerobics, weightlifting and taekwondo. It is the biggest delegation of Mongolian athletes participating in a Summer Universiade since 1965 (Budapest).
During the fairway ceremony, Munguntuul B. women Grand master for Chess – two times Gold medalist at the 2010 WUC Chess inZurich,Switzerlandtook the oath on behalf of all Mongolian competitors. Also aerobic athletes who will compete in aerobic sports at the Universiade presented their show to the participants.
Mr. Lambaa S., Minister of Sports said in his speech “We selected this delegation from 50 universities and colleges and from 8,000 students who have participated in the 10th National University Sports Games this March to May 2011. I hope that the Mongolian team of student-athletes can be one of the powerful competitors. He handed out the Mongolian national flag to Mr. Naranbaatar, Head of Delegation forMongolia.
The Mongolian athletes’ team consists of 109 students from some 20 universities and institutes. Mongolian athletes will be contenders in judo, table tennis, archery, international chess, gymnastics, aerobics and sport shooting. The first group of athletes will travel to Shenzhen on August 7th.
