2011 SU Update: Team Sweden goes Shenzhen

UPPSALA – Team Sweden will consist of 70 athletes competing in 10 different sports at the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China. The Swedish athletes will compete in athletics, badminton, basketball, fencing, judo, sport shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball. Including the athletes, medical officials and delegation officials the Swedish team will consist of 105 people.

“We have many reasons to look forward to the Shenzhen Universiade with great anticipation and we are delighted to have such an amount of great athletes in Team Sweden”, says Johanna S:t Clair Renard, President of the Swedish University Sports Federation. The Swedish Olympic Committee is supporting the women´s basketball team, as well as individual athletes on their program for extraordinary talents. “We also have a co-operation with the Swedish Sport Confederation, who will send two members of their staff to exchange experience with other countries. Meetings with a number of countries are already scheduled”, says Johanna S.t Clair Renard.

Team Sweden are definitely ready to meet Shenzhen and are convinced that the Games are going to be both spectacular and very exciting.
