2013 SU Update: Youth Train with Kazan 2013 Delegates on Board Travels to Ulan-Ude and Irkutsk

KAZAN – The Youth Train with participants of the volunteer promotion program on board, made two stops: inUlan-Ude and inIrkutsk. In both cities the Kazan 2013 delegates delivered presentations of the 27th Summer Universiade.

The Youth Train, a volunteer event aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing volunteership inRussia, kicked off on June 14th inMoscow. The train will travel along the Trans-Siberian railway and pass through such cities asUlan-Ude,Irkutsk,Krasnoyarsk,Novosibirsk,Omsk,Tyumen, Ekaterinburg andKazan. The event was officially launched in the city ofUlan-Ude. After the train’s passengers were met at the railways station by greeters dressed in national costumes and were treated to goat milk, they hosted volunteer presentations and workshops in the capital of Buryatia. Notably, the www.jaba.ru volunteer portal director Stanislav Sveshnikov held a seminar for specialists responsible for volunteer coordination in the Buryat Republic.

The next city the Youth Train stopped at was Irkutsk. Irkutsk State Linguistic University hosted workshops and seminars on promotion of volunteership, sports and healthy way of life. The School of Volunteers that was held within the event gathered activists from all over the Irkutsk Region.

In each city where the Youth Train arrives in, a special program will be implemented, which includes press conferences, meetings with famous athletes and veterans of sports, sporting and social events, organized by the volunteers to encourage people to live a healthy way of life, as well as gigs performed by famous Russian singers. But admittedly, the most sought-after events are Kazan 2013 and Sochi 2014 presentations. Volunteers of the 2013 Summer Universiade introduced their peers to immense changes that the city is experiencing and told them about Kazan 2013 volunteer selection program. Despite the devastating heat that set in the cities the Youth Train passes through, Kazan 2013 volunteers organize meetings of Uni the snow leopard kitten with local children, hold trivia quizzes and give away Kazan 2013 logoed souvenirs.

«Volunteership plays a huge role in the life of our nation», Mikhail Trubetskoy, Youth Train project manager and representative of the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, elaborated on the role of volunteering in Russia. «Any event of national or international scale is impossible without volunteer assistance. Volunteering is open to any person eager to work and help, it has no limitations.»

The next city on the way of the Youth Train is Krasnoyarsk. On June 25th, the unique train is to arrive in Kazan.
