2013 SU Update: London 2012 OC shares Experience with Kazan Universiade

KAZAN As member of the Sochi 2014 OC delegation, Director of the Kazan 2013 Volunteer Department Liliya Barieva was on a working visit inLondon, where she adopts practices of personnel training for international multi-sport events.

Liliya Barieva and Sochi 2014 representatives held a meeting with the London 2012 organizers on recruitment and training of skilled personnel for multi-sport events, as well as assignment of volunteer responsibilities and coordination of their work. Volunteer training was a special topic of discussion. Liliya Barieva visited the London 2012 volunteer selection centre and attended an interview with potential volunteers of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

«The interviews, half-hour long each, are held with 29 applicants simultaneously. The volunteer selection procedure will run for fourteen months. For three months the interviews will be held by 400 specially trained volunteers and for the rest of the time the selection procedure will be coordinated by the London 2012 OC experts.

Representatives of the London 2012 Organizing Committee shared their know-how in interviewer training, and also expressed their readiness to receive Kazan 2013 representatives for a specialized interviewing training», Liliya Barieva said.

On the whole, the Director of the Kazan 2013 Volunteer Department mentioned that the London 2012 organizers were enthusiastically sharing their experience of organizing such a grand event. «They not only reveal their functional know-how but also readily tell us about specifics and details of the preparations and delivery of the Games, as well as business processes and financial plans on implementing specific projects», Liliya Barieva noted.
