KAZAN The Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate and Kazan Dance Theatre agreed to cooperate in the preparations of the 27th World University Summer Games in Kazan.

The solemn agreement signing ceremony that took place in the Kazan National Cultural Centre saw attendance of Deputy Director of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Igor Sivov, Kazan Dance Theatre Artistic Director Chulpan Zakirova and other officials.

Igor Sivov welcomed the guests with the following speech: ‘Three years are gone after the agreement for staging the 27th World University Summer Games in Kazan was signed. A massive amount of work has been done during this period. We are among the first to pay close attention to organizing cultural events within the Universiade as well as sports events. In the preparations of the Cultural Universiade we are signing agreements with the most distinguished dance and music bands of Kazan and Tatarstan.’

The Deputy Director of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate also gave an overview of the plans for the future and confirmed that the Kazan Dance Theatre was to participate in the FISU flag transfer ceremony in Shenzhen, host city of the 26th Summer Universiade.

Chulpan Zakirova expressed her readiness for a fruitful cooperation: ‘We hope that the Kazan 2013 Organizing Committee will keep us busy and we will become constant participants of the Cultural Universiade events. Because dance is what we live by.’

The agreement is focused on promoting the 27th Summer Universiade among citizens of Tatarstan and Russia, and building a talented youth pool for the Cultural Universiade, Opening/Closing Ceremonies of the 2013 Summer Universiade. Under the terms of the agreement, the parties are obliged to actively participate in implementation of joint projects.

The Kazan Dance Theatre was founded in 1996. It includes talented young choreographers and ballet dancers that graduated from dance schools and institutes of culture. At present there are 30 dancers and 12 orchestra musicians in the company. It’s the only ballet company in the Volga Region that harmoniously combines three dancing genres: folk, step and modern.

The true pearl of the Kazan Dance Theatre is a new stage genre – a choreographic miniature that represents a series of dance sketches united with a common idea into one spectacular show.

On April 5th, 2011, as part of the Cultural Universiade implementation program the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate signed a similar cooperation agreement with the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan.
