12 April 2011

BRAZIL Less than four months to the beginning of the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China, from August 12th to 23rd, the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU) has started preparations for the competition.

Luciano Cabral, president of CBDU, Roberto Maldonado, financial manager, Alessandro Gomez, manager of events, and Ricardo Moura, international relations, are in Shenzhen for the Heads of Delegation meeting from April 14th to 16th. The Brazilian’s managers will attend the team draw of the collective sports and make visits to the Athletes’ Village and the venues.

“Besides attending the meeting, we will finalize the details about acclimation of the Brazilian athletes and look for a place to set up a Brazilian House that will receive the CBDU Family during the Games. We will have meetings with the Local Organizing Committee and also the Chinese University Sports Federation”, said Luciano Cabral.

The expectation of CBDU in partnership with the Brazilian Olympic Committee, Ministry of Sports and confederations, is to lead a delegation to China with approximately 300 athletes, already aimed at preparing the young national talents for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
