2013 WU Update: Work Meeting in Maribor

MARIBOR – Yesterday, March 31^st, 2011, FISU representatives Roger ROTH – CTI Chair, Dejan SUSOVIC – Media and Communication Director/Head of TV Productions and Milan AUGUSTIN – Director WU met OC Maribor 2013 representatives Tone VOGRINEC – President of OC 2013, Srecko VILAR – Games Management Director and Srecko MEDVEN – Sports Director to finalize some important sport issues from a technical sport point of view.

The fruitful meeting was organized in the new headquarters of the OC 2013 in the centre of Maribor city close to the river Drava. As it was already approved by the FISU Executive Committee the 2013 WU will be organized from January 30th to February 9th, 2013 (Wednesday – Opening and Saturday – Closing) and the Athletes’ Village will open on January 25^th, 2013.

Now it was a crucial moment to prolong the discussion about all technical points which had to be finalized from the CTI meeting organized last year in October. A step forward was taken when almost all sport projects and drawings of all venues have been completed and will start to be realized in the upcoming weeks.

Some positive changes have been presented on the sport side and will be brought up during the upcoming Executive Committee meeting for approval. Both parties agreed on the sports program for the 2013 WU which will be approved by Executive Committee in May in Lausanne (SUI) and also on the different locations, which some of them still need to be decided and allocated in a close future.

From this moment onwards, the OC can easily start its entire planning of the organization.

Media, website and TV production during the Games was also discussed. Dejan SUSOVIC highlighted all necessary tasks and areas to be covered and explained the overall process FISU expects from the OC 2013. It was agreed Dejan SUSOVIC will discuss the details during a meeting with Slovenian TV as soon as possible.
