2013 SU Update: Chief Accounts Chamber counts 2013 SU Medals

KAZAN Chief of the Russian Federation Accounts Chamber Staff and Russian National Badminton Federation President Sergey Shakhray visited the 2013 SU sports venues.

During his trip to Kazan, Chief of the Russian Federation Accounts Chamber Staff and Russian National Badminton Federation President Sergey Shakhray visited a number of the 2013 SU sports venues, including the Universiade Village, Tennis Academy, Ak Bars Wrestling Palace, Vatan Sports Complex, Burevetnik and Olimp Swimming Pools and also the 45,000-seat football stadium which will host the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Games.

A working meeting was held between Sergey Shakhray, Tatarstan’s Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov and Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov in the Ak Bars Wrestling Palace. The Russian National Badminton Federation President indicated that the 2013 University Games would enable Russian badminton to move to a new level. “It’s a unique sport that helps to restore eyesight. It needs to be promoted,” he mentioned at the working meeting.

When touring the Universiade Village Sergey Shakhray inspected the construction progress of the key venue of the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan. He examined the living conditions in the newly opened residential buildings and met with the campus residents. At the end of the tour he left a note in the book of honorary guests and stated that the Universiade Village provided the best accommodation for students. “All we have left is to win. The Accounts Chamber will check and count all the medals, badminton medals among them.”
