EC Meeting in Erzurum – Day 2

George E. Killian, FISU PresidentErzurum – The FISU Executive Committee held its second session today at the Palan Hotel. Several topics were on the agenda with, first of all, the reports about the 2011 Winter Universiade that is going to start next Thursday here in Erzrurum. All the FISU Committees directly involved (CSU, CTI, CIC, CMI) with this organization gave the EC members extensive presentations. After that, Bekir Korkmaz, the General Manager of the 2011 Winter Universiade gave the EC members a very detailed report about the organization. The EC members were very satisfied with this presentation and Mr. Killian, FISU President warmly thanked Mr. Korkmaz for his work.

Than, the EC members had the opportunity to listen to our next Universiades organizers who gave us small reports about their preparation progress as the previous meeting was held in November, only two months ago.

After the lunch break, the WUC department took the floor. Sinisa Jasnic, CTI Chair for the WUC, Matjaz Pecovnik, Vice-chair, and Laurent Briel, WUC Director gave the EC members a very detailed presentation about the policy statement for the management and development of the World University Championships programme.

They also gave an overview of the 2012 and 2014 events. A number of 2012 WUC candidates presented their bids and the 2 following WUC were attributed to the 2012 program, which brings the number of WUC for 2012 to 26!
