2013 SU Update: Tatarstan PM Inspects Kazan 2013 Sport Venues

KAZAN Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov toured the construction sites of the Rowing Centre, Aquatics Palace, 45,000-seat football stadium and facilities of Kazan’s transport infrastructure and inspected the construction supplies delivery progress and working hours of builders during the holidays.

As Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Utilities Irek Fayzullin said in his interview to the press, 18,000 piles were already driven on the construction site of the future stadium. Another 800 piles are to be driven this year and builders will start casting primary structures. «Construction of all the venues is on track despite weather conditions, snow storms and frost», stated Irek Fayzullin.

We would remind you that the project of the 45,000-seat stadium was designed by Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt, Intex, Populous (Great Britain), CNIIPROMZDANIY.

According to the design, the 8-storeyed stadium will be 47 metres in height and its total area will reach 131,440 square metres. The flower-shaped design of the football stadium is harmonised with the general layout of the venue’s infrastructure that is divided in public park and recreation zones.

The North Stand will house the medical and rehabilitation centre for handicapped persons that will include a swimming pool, a multi-functional gym hall, a fitness centre, a table tennis hall, a chess hall, a methodics department.

The South Stand will comprise shops, cafes, offices, an 8-lane bowling alley, a 540-seat cinema.

Construction of the 45,000-seat football stadium, Rowing Centre and Aquatics Palace is to be finished in 2011-2012.
