15th ASEAN University Games in Chiang Mai, Thailand

CHIANG MAI – On December 14th, the first heads of delegation meeting of the participating countries to the 15th edition of the ASEAN University Games took place. 2,000 participants from eleven countries will take part from December 15th to 23rd in these South East Asian University Games in sixteen sports with the motto “We are One”. Timor-Leste is the extra country to the ten composing the ASEAN organization. The Mascot is named Nong Hug

The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Nangnoi Puapatanakul, Deputy Secretary General of the office of the Higher Education Commission and Mr. Dato’ Omar Osman, President of the ASEAN University Sports Council. The Secretariat of this council is based in Malaysia.

This meeting was the opportunity for FISU delegate Kolë Gjeloshaj, Director for Educational and Development Services and Preecha Prayoonpat, board member of AUSF and Vice-President of the National University Sport Federation of Thailand (USBT) to meet with the non-member federations such as Brunei Darussalem, PDR Lao, Myanmar, Singapore and Timor-Leste.

The Opening Ceremony is going to take place on December 15th although the football tournament already started.
