City Events Conference’ Presented to the Press

BRUSSELS – Today, November 10th the inaugural edition of the City Events Conference (Nov. 17-19) in Brussels (Square) was presented to the Media at ‘Château de la Solitude’, the Headquarters of FISU in Auderghem (outskirts of Brussels).

Organized by FISU (International University Sports Federation) and GL Events, ‘City Events’ is the first international conference that brings together cities interested in hosting international sporting competitions as well as international and continental sports organizations looking for ambitious hosts for their events.

This year’s conference theme ‘From Sport Event to Citywide Experience’ aims at strengthening the bond among all these stakeholders to create events that are much more than just sporting competitions, but which are for the benefit of all.

A pick at random of speakers from household brands and names: Tour de France, 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games ‘Legacies Now’, Volvo Ocean Race, 2010 FIBA World Championships, X-Games, F1 in Bahrein, World University Games/Universiade and city representatives who share their view what sport events do for their city, i.e. Amsterdam (NED), Kazan (RUS), Edmonton (CAN), Berlin (GER), Johannesburg (RSA), Shenzhen (CHN), Istanbul (TUR), Are (SWE), Lausanne (SUI) and Maribor (SLO). Present also will be representatives form numerous International Sport Federations like FIBA, FIH, FIE, FIDE, FIS, FISU, FITA, ISF, IBAF, ICF, IKF, ITTF, ITU.
