2013 SU Update: Team 2013: Season 2 was launched

KAZAN – Season Two of the project will feature such participants as Kazan Federal University, Kazan State Finance and Economics Institute, Kazan Technical University named after A.N.Tupolev, Kazan State Technological University, TISBI, Kazan State Medicine University, Kazan Branch of Russian Academy of Justice, Academy of Social Education, Kazan State Agrarian University, Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Science named after N.E. Bauman

11 teams made up of 13 students will compete in the contest. Within five weeks the Kazan volunteers will be fighting for the right to be named the best.  During the contest period the young participants will be assigned tasks that will be revealed at the beginning of each week. The results of Kazan 2013: Season Two will be announced on December 5th, 2010 – International Volunteer Day.

The contest was organized by the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee.

‘Such projects are aimed at promotion of volunteering ideas among youth, building of a regular group of team leaders, capable to become coordinators of volunteers in the period of preparation and staging of the 27th World University Summer Games in Kazan. Our goal is to teach these young people to work not only individually but also with the team. To teach them to cooperate with each other and enable them to feel responsible for the same goal. While fulfilling tasks, the young people will become aware that volunteering is not limited to aiding in organization and staging of sports events, it is also about active involvement in different social projects’, Liliya Barieva, head of the Volunteers Department of the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee,  said.

Unlike the first season, this time the participating teams have mentors – the volunteers that distinguished themselves during the first season of Team 2013.

During the official opening of the season that took place in the Universiade Village on October 31st, where the teams got to know each other and participated in team shaping contests.

At the end of the opening ceremony the organizers of the project announced the prize of the contest – internship at the 26th World University Summer Games in Shenzhen in August, 2011.

‘Kazan 2013: Season One’ was held from April 24th to June 20th, 2010. 12 teams took part in the contest. Within eight weeks the volunteers had been assisting veterans and implementing social projects. Following the results of the first season, the winning teams were granted an opportunity to undertake an internship during the 2011 World University Winter Games in Erzurum, Turkey.
