3rd AUSF Basketball Championship

7 October 2010

CHINESE TAIPEI – The 3rd Asian University Men’s Basketball Championship is currently been played at Kai Nan University. The event, which was officially opened on October 3rd, has 108 students and officials from 7 competing countries (China, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Lebanon and Thailand) and is organized by the Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation and hosted by Kai Nan University. The former 2 editions of this championship were also held in Chinese Taipei.

On day 3 of the competitions, Team China played Lebanon after they won the place in semi-finals. It was a really intense and difficult match for China facing very strong opponents, even though they have the advantage of height. China was playing very hard in the paint, and outside shots were inaccurate either. In the other side, Team Lebanon, besides the strength and the size of their athletes, the fouls maker “Saiid” grasped the opportunity to help the team lock the victory by penalty shots. Lebanon finally closed the match at 85:63.

Ranked matches for five to seven were set on fire at 2:00 pm. Team Korea was expecting to bounce back with a win as they knew Thailand had been playing for days. Before this match, both teams encountered a losing streak. Korea celebrated a 99:66 victory in the end, and their coach finally showed the satisfied smile. After winning, the coach from Korea said: ‘our team finally found the rhythm of the game after a few days of competition. Several athletes were injured but unable to have a good rest during the competition period. They will be back to fight for a place in the final eight of the University Basketball League once they return home.’
