2010 WUC Archery Update: Shenzhen Ready for Archers

22 September 2010

SHENZHEN – From September 23rd to 26th the 8th World University Archery Championship will take place in Shenzhen. The big Shenzhen stadium will host the sports event and the archers from 19 countries will compete in very nice technical conditions.

Before the arrival of the CT Chair Juan Carlos Holgado and of the Vice-President of the Medical Committee Dusan Hamar on Wednesday afternoon, CIC member Byong-jin You was already at work since two days in order to accredit the arriving delegations. On Tuesday September 21st, FISU SU Director Marc Vandenplas had a meeting with the Organizing Committee in order to supervise the organization of the Championship.

Training VenueThe OC has accomplished an impressive work and the forthcoming organizers of the WUC Archery will face a huge challenge to equal Shenzhen. Accommodation has been settled in the Shenzhen Silver Lake Resort Hotel for the participants, the CISCA members as well as the Technical Officials. The landscape is very nice, accommodation for all is great and the transport system is efficient: this is considered as a real test event for the 2011 Summer Universiade (transportation, security, accreditation, catering, sports organization) and no doubt that it will be a success.

The CISCA Chair, Omar Al Hai, is attending today the General Assembly of the Asian University Sports Federation and we are sure that as the FITA Technical Delegate Frankie Hoong, he will be positively impressed by the preparations skills of the OC. FISU President George Killian, FISU Secretary General Eric Saintrond, CTI Chair of WUC Sinica Jasnic and many members of the FISU Executive Committee will attend the Opening Ceremony tomorrow night as well as some of the competitions.
