2011 WU Update: Meeting with TRT in Istanbul

ISTANBUL – Yesterday, September 6^th, Eric SAINTROND, FISU Secretary-General/CEO; Dejan SUSOVIC, Media and Communication Director/Head of TV Production; Milan AUGUSTIN, Director WU; Mirjana CVIJANOVIC, FISU IT&C Advisor met in Istanbul for a first, but very important, meeting with TRT, the Official Host broadcaster for the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum. The FISU delegates met with the following persons representing the Host Broadcaster: Mrs.Zehra ASCI, Director Broadcasting Department of EWUOC; Deniz GUCUYENER, TRT International Sport Coordinator; Deniz SAN; Sports Expert of TRT; Ersin KUCUKBARAK, TRT; Jeff EARLY, Production Manager of Gearhouse Broadcast Limited (GBR); Baha SENER, Broadcasting Director’s Assistant; Gulsah ERTURK, IBC Broadcasting Coordinator; Ugur Kilic, IT&C Director; Mehmet OZDEMIR, IT & C & B Executive Director; Murat AKIN, Accommodation Director; Erdogan KOCAK, Representative of Finance Department and other representatives of EWUOC.

 Both parties have agreed on a strategic plan for the next short period, just less than 5 months before the start the games. All points that were pending concerning the overall planning have been clarified. TRT experts and Dejan SUSOVIC went over the technical details to be sure that all necessary installations will be done on time.

TRT as a Host broadcaster tendered Gearhouse Broadcast Limited Company from England, which has a vast experience in Winter sports proved also during the last Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Gearhouse will cover all snow sports and already some designs and layouts on venues have been done. TRT will cover the rest of the sports, ceremonies and overall atmosphere of the games.

An excellent worldwide exposure of the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum is expected.
