2010 WUC Badminton Update: Arrival Delegations

3 September 2010

TAIPEI CITY – The first delegations arrived at the Taipei International Airport where they were welcomed by the volunteers of the 11th World University Badminton Championship Organizing Committee. The cars transferred them to the Taipei Fullerton Hotel, the official accommodation for the FISU Family, BWF Representatives, Athletes and Official as well as the umpires. So far the delegations of GBR, POL, SUI, HKG, KOR, SIN and TPE have arrived and 21 countries are expected to participate in the individual event whereas 12 countries will participate in the team event.

Accreditation

The accreditation centre as well as the OC office is situated on 17th floor of the Fullerton Hotel and the member of the CIC committee Morjsuren Jargalsaikhan (MGL) has his hands full checking the entry forms of more than 200 participants from 21 competing countries.

Last Inspection

As we know before the start of the competition the FISU CT Badminton Roger Johansson (SWE) accompanied by Mr. Surasak (chief of umpires) and Michal Buchel, FISU Sports Manager visited the Sports Hall to inspect the competition and training venue for a last time. They made some suggestion to the organizer, but are satisfied with the situation of the last preparatory work. The floor was put in place, official banners and flags of the participating countries were raised. The venue will be an excellent meeting point for the badminton players from different continents.

Inspection of CMI

Member of the Medical Committee Dr. Kwun (KOR) inspected the venue and made some changes within the preparation of the doping control room. Today he will have a meeting with the doctor from the OC about the medical care during the championship.
