FISU Opens Bidding for 2017 Universiades

BRUSSELS – Today, September 1st, 2010, FISU officially opens the bidding for the 2017 Winter and Summer Universiades.

The Games are already attributed for 2011, 2013 and 2015, i.e. Erzurum, Turkey; Maribor, Slovenia and Granada, Spain will host the 25th, 26th and 27th Winter Universiade respectively, while Shenzhen, China; Kazan, Russia and Gwangju, Korea will host the 26th, 27th and 28th editions of the Summer Universiade.

Below you will find the bidding procedure time table for the 2017 events.

September 1st, 2010 to May 2nd, 2011
– Submission of the Letter of Intention
November 17th-19th, 2010

– Interactive workshop at the City Events Conference

(Brussels, Belgium)

January 27th – February 6th, 2011

– Observer Program for Applicant Cities during the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum

May 2nd, 2011

– Deadline for letters of intent & payment of bidding fee

May 13th, 2011

– Candidate City Workshop in Brussels, Belgium

August 12th – 23rd, 2011

– Observer Program for Candidate Cities during the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen

September 30th, 2011

– Submission of the bidding book

October-November 2011

– Inspection visits by the FISU Winter & Summer Universiade

Evaluation Committees

November 2011

– Final presentations by the Bidding Committees to the FISU

Executive Committee followed by the attribution of the 2017

Winter & Summer Universiade
