2010 WUC Rowing Update: Opening Ceremony

SZEGED Yesterday, August 13th, the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 World University Rowing Championship in Szeged, Hungary, took place to conclude the day.

After the march pass of all delegations through the city, Prof. Dr. Szabo, Rector of  the University of Szeged welcomed the delegations. Dr. Verena Burk, FISU Assessor, explained that FISU is really proud to have chosen Hungary for the organization of this event, with such a competent team of organizers and officials. The City of Szeged, as well as the Hungarian Rowing Federation and the HUSF of course were warmly congratulated for their efforts.

Verena Burk presents a FISU souvenir to the Vice-MayorAfter the speech of the President of HUSF, Mr. Pal Vincze, the Vice-Mayor of Szeged, Mr. Pal Szentgyörgi, officially declared the 11th edition of the World University Rowing Championship open.

The cultural festival was a nice mix of traditional dances and hip-hop dance, recalling that each generation enjoys life.

The Vice-Mayor of Szeged invited all heads of delegations, as well as the FISA jury members and CISCA delegates to a reception, where Verena Burk congratulated the City for such a nice hospitality.
