BORLANGE – At the occasion of 17th WUC Orienteering Milan AUGUSTIN (SVK), Director of WU met FISU CT Chair for Ice Hockey Lars G.KARLSSON (SWE)to pre-discuss all necessary issues regarding upcoming Ice Hockey tournaments during the 25th Winter Universiade in Erzurum (TUR). In one month (August 27) we will know all Men’s and Women’s teams which would like to participate at the WU in Erzurum followed by drawing during the Final General Heads of Delegation meeting on October 2nd, 2010. This overall procedure requires a big attention to prepare a good agenda in order to conduct the WU Ice Hockey tournament in a successful way. In a couple of months the first test in the new ice hockey arenas in Erzurum will be organized handling a few games where Lars. G.KARLSSON together with Roger ROTH (CTI Chair) and Robert PHILIP (CTI Vice-Chair) will be present.
The main discussion of the meeting was to set up good planning to handle the logistic and technical arrangements on time without any delay due to the deadlines which must be kept.
In a second half of the working session Stefan BERGH (SWE), FISU Vice-President and Chairman of the FISU Development Committee together with President of Swedish University Sports Federation Mrs. Johanna S:t Clair RENARD joined our meeting to conduct a mutual discussion in order to find a good solution to bring ice hockey teams of Sweden to Erzurum WU. This positive exchange of all information sounded hopeful but still some meetings with the relevant people are ahead in order to finalize this nice project.
