PODGORICA – Yesterday July 14th further preparations for the World University Karate Championship were carried out. In the morning FISU CMI member Dr. Zygmunt Przybylski met at the Hotel Podgorica the representatives of the Organizing Committee responsible for the medical issues and the WADA representative. During the meeting they discussed about the doping control procedure during the WUC as well as about the medical assistance necessary for the karate championship. The ambulance car will be at the spot permanently during the event and the nearby hospital is ready to serve whenever it is necessary.
The Referees’ meeting was also scheduled on Wednesday at the hotel Montenegro where all referees are accommodated. During this meeting FISU CT Chair Tokey Hill explained the importance of the independence of the referees and wished them good luck and correct judging. The major issue of the meeting was established according the Karate tradition: the referee-in-chief. The WKF representative and FISU CT Chair nominated Mr. Ortega from FRA, who is a very experienced international referee and also a member of the WKF Referee Council.
FISU CT Chair Tokey Hill visited the sports hall to check if all functional areas worked properly, and he was satisfied with the preparation work and set up.
In the evening the General Technical Meeting and Draw of Lots was held in the auditorium of the Electrotechnic Faculty of Montenegro University. It was prepared well by the Organizing Committee. FISU CT Chair Tokey Hill introduced to the Head of the Missions the CISCA members: Stavros Douvis, Dmitry Kisilev and Zigmunt Przybylski. On behalf of the OC Boris Sekulic introduced them the Organizing Committee. Then the floor was given to FISU Medical committee member Dr. Zigmunt Przybylski, who informed the Heads of Delegation about the medical assistance during the Championship. Doping control will be made during the Championship according the FISU Regulations and WADA Rules. After the short break the Heads of Delegation checked again the weight-in categories of their competitors which was followed by the draw of lots.
