2010 WUC Squash Update: Day 1 of Competitions

MELBOURNE – The first round competition at the World University Squash Championships got underway yesterday July 10th before some large crowds at Monash University’s Clayton campus. Tournament results included USA star Kristen Lange advancing over Australia’s Selena Shaikh. Lange’s compatriot, Logan Greer also made it through the first round of competition, advancing over New Zealand’s Stacey Smith.

Monday’s order of play promises to deliver more excitement on the courts. Play begins from 10:00 am where the women’s draw heats up with quarter finals action, featuring Hong Kong’s A. Au and S. Nga Leung, Great Britain’s E. Chorly and K. McPhee, the USA girls L. Greer and K. Lange. The quarter final action is rounded out with South Africa’s S. Haupt and Australia’s M. Francis.

The men’s draw will also be heating up, with round two to be completed in preparation for the quarter finals. Monday’s play will feature British boys J. Hinds, P. Creed and C Hall, the German J. Schoor will be eager to amend for his countries ‘almost’ successful world cup campaign. Australian S Brown will be eager to perform well on home soil.
