TOOWOOMBA – On July 5th the competition started in Toowoomba, Australia for the participants of the Northern University Games in which teams from Oceania are taking part. Since OUSA has been formed it is the first time that a team from American Samoa is taking part to an event.

Ed Imo, board member of OUSA and its President from 2009 to 2010 decided to ask two tennis players to take part to this competition representing American Samoa. The girl is Litia Aitulagi Godinet that will join the New Mexico Military Institute in September and the boy is Tamiano J. Gurr from the University of Hawaii-Manoa. For their first experience with international university sport they were positively surprised of the friendship atmosphere existing with the competing student-athletes.

For Ed Imo those games are a great opportunity for the athletes of American Samoa to be more present at international events. So far the country who became a FISU member in 2009 has taken part in two Summer Universiades.
