BRUSSELS – Today, July 2nd, a delegate of Trentino (ITA), potential candidate city for the 2017 Winter Universiade visited the FISU Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. Mr. Filippo Bazanella (ITA), General Coordinator met with FISU Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond and Milan Augustin, Director WU and informed them about the big interest of all parties together with CUSI to organize the 2017 WU in Trentino.

As Mr. Bazanella explained to Mr. Saintrond and Mr. Augustin, the strategic plan is supported by the Regional Government and CUSI as well. Why Trentino? Because Trentino is one of the most popular Italian destinations for international winter tourism. The great surrounding of the Dolomites are declared also as UNESCO World heritage and offer a precious environmental opportunity for Trentino and an incentive to create a World University Games event celebrating environmental sustainability. Their aim is also to reach the target of developing the academic culture in this nice region.
