2010 WUC Beach Volleyball Update: Day 4 of Competitions

ALANYA – Yesterday, Saturday June 19th was the last day of the Playoff elimination round for the teams to get to the Semi-finals for Men and Women.

Extremely hot weather was escorting this Playoff elimination round. Four games play for each team were extremely exhausting and only the best teams could continue to the Semi-finals.

Approaching the last day of the championship we can see better performance and ball exchange for all remaining teams which got into the Semi-finals. Even some teams confirmed that they are better matched than at the beginning. Some players play with their partners for the first time and it needs real competition practice.

A lot of excellent matches were played, like women’s SVK – CZE 1; ,0:2 or HKG –FRA 0:2 and in Men’s BRA 1- FRA 1; 2:1 or BRA 2 – POL 1 ; 0:2 following by a perfect sport presentation by OC announcers Alper KOCAK and Gulsah SAHIN.

The competition office is doing a great job under the supervision of Sport Director Prof. Dr. Kamil OZER with his assistant Mr. Abdurrahman AKTOP – Information Manager. All people who are involved work very precise. This requests an enormous effort from their side to follow all obligations and FIVB rules. It is also very important to mention the great work by the Media Department headed by M. Ali OZCELIK – editor and Yunus Emre SABUNCU – official photographer of OC. The General coordination of the event has been very well supported by TUSF, especially by Murat ASLAN who with a good team could gather all the necessary people.

No event without the invaluable volunteers. Every morning at 8:00 o’clock you can see children who arrive to the play venue on the bicycles with new energy and enthusiasm for a new day of play.

Today, the Semi-finals start at 10:00 o’clock with Women’s Semi-finals first and at 11:00 o‘clock with the Men’s. Then at 14:00 Women’s match for 3rd place is scheduled and the Men’s at 15:00. The Final game starts at 16:00 for Women and at 17:00 for Men. After the last Final, the Awarding Ceremony will be organized followed by the Closing Ceremony at the competition venue.
