Swiss University Sports Conference

GENEVA – The University Sport of Geneva under the leadership of its director Antonio Latella organized the annual Swiss University Sports Conference from June 14th to 16th.

Starting by its traditional Conference of the Directors of the Swiss University Sports Organizations, including FISU Assessor Leonz Eder, University of St. Gallen and Roger Roth, CTI Chair for the Winter Universiade from Fribourg University, the three days meeting was followed by the Conference of all the University sports teachers of the 15 member associations of SUSF.

The acting President of the Conference is Georges-André Carrel, responsible Director of the University Sports in Lausanne. SUSF President Andreas Csonka informed about the goals of the federation, including the organization of the 2010 WUC Chess in Zurich, the 2011 EUC Tennis in St. Gallen, the candidature for the 2014 WUC Golf in Crans-Montana and the potential candidature of Switzerland for the 2019 Winter Universiade.

The Red Cross & Red Crescent MuseumThe Conference approved the annual reports of all the University Sports Organizations, welcomed new and saw off retired members as well as gave the organization rights of the 2011 Conference to the University of Lucerne, 2012 to Lugano, 2013 to Magglingen and 2014 to St. Gallen.

The framework program of the Conference included a visit to the famous International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, sport activities such as indoor climbing and badminton, and – of course during the Football World Cup – public viewing of some matches. The meeting of the Technical Committee of SUSF concluded the Conference in Geneva.
