2013 SU Update: CT Working Session in Kazan

10 June 2010

KAZAN – The work of the CTI Chairs under the supervision of Stavros Douvis, CTI Chair for SU and Marc Vandenplas, FISU Director Summer Universiade, has started several days ago in Kazan. Today, June 10th, Michalis Kyritsis, CT Chair for Basketball/Men and Jean Paul Clemençon, CT Chair for Water Polo joined the FISU delegation in the host city of the 2013 Summer Universiade.

The inspections of the Universiade facilities started a couple of days ago with Michal Buchel, FISU Sports Manager; John Warnock, CT Chair for Football; Mark Tennant, CT Chair for Volleyball and Beach Volleyball and Niall Sturock, CT Chair for Field Hockey visiting the venues.

In today’s meeting, Starvos Douvis mentioned that the level of organization on the preparation for the Universiade in Kazan is very good. “This is the first Organizing Committee that started functioning long before the Universiade Opening Ceremony. Efficient work now is the key to success of the Universiade in 2013”, he said.

At the end of today’s FISU Technical Chairs meeting, the delegation members visited the Universiade Village. John Warnock mentioned that the first time in 22 years of his work at FISU he saw such a high level of quality in building the Universiade Village. “I am very happy, especially that there is a football field on the Village premises. Hopefully I will have a chance to play there in the future”, he joked.

After the Village visit, the Technical Chairs continued with their individual program.
