2011 WU Update: Preparations in the Community…

ERZURUM – While the countdown for the 2011 Winter Universiade continues, institutions and investors too, started to speed up their preparation works.

The Electrical Distribution Organization Department of Erzurum Palandöken, has started to meet the energy requirements of the 2011 facilities. The Department has also determined the work schedule which will be held in Konaklı and Kandilli region.

Aras Electricity Distribution Company Director Adnan Taşkesenlioğlu gave information about conducted preparations of 2011 Winter Games: ‘We are laying new lines so energy transport needs are met in Erzurum Substation TM 1 Palandoken Skiing Center in Erzurum and Substation TM 2 Konakli Ski Centre Askale Kandilli in the plants, ponds and buildings.’

Askale between Kandilli 18, between Substation 2 and Konaklı will be 16 kilometers long. There will also be a transmission line layed in Askale Kandilli and TM 2. Other lines will be installed underground. Transformers and cables of the host plant tender on the other hand, will be under their responsibility for supervision and control he explained. Taşkesenlioğlu stated that they will be spending 10 million TL within the frame work of 2011 WU. The works will be completed in September.

With the 2011 WU, Erzurum has gained important investments. Energy and infrastructure investments, have an important place along with the works carried out. 2011 WU Erzurum will give significant opportunities to winter tourism.
