Valencia Ready for 2010 WUC Triathlon

26 May 2010

The University of Valencia will host the 10th World University Triathlon Championship next weekend, May 29th to 30th, 2010. More than 200 student-athletes from some 40 countries are expected to travel to the beach city on the Spanish East Coast to take part in the international FISU sport event.

Hopes are high for the Spanish hosts, as the circuit for the race is considered a fast one, which is advantageous to the Spanish athletes who excel in swimming and running. ‘The bike track is pretty level’, said Iván Muñoz, the Spanish Head of Delegation. ‘The race will without doubt be decided in the running part. Our athletes will be strong contenders.’

The 10th edition of this FISU WUC can be followed live online at the website of the Organizing Committee at www.eventosuv.com. The race course can already be explored via this website as well.

While the Opening Ceremony of the Championship will take place on May 29th at 18h30, the women’s and the men’s race will be held on Sunday May 30th at 08h00 and 10h15 respectively.

The Awarding Ceremony is scheduled at 17h30, the Closing Ceremony at 20h30.
