2013 WU Update: Working Visit in Maribor

From April 22nd to 23rd, 2010, FISU delegates Roger Roth, CTI Chair, and Milan AUgustin, WU Director visited Maribor, host city of the 26th Winter Universiade to meet the newly established Organizing Committee.

During the work session they met with the key persons of the OC, i.e. Tone VOGRINEC, OC President; Andrej VERLIC, OC Vice-President; Srecko VILAR, Games Management Director & General Coordinator; Marko RATAJ, CEO SC Pohorje, Expert/Technical and Otmar KUGOVNIK, SUSA President. They attendants the technical preparation plan and possible changes foreseen by the OC.

The OC members have a vast experience organizing winter sport events on a high international level. The Organization chart which was already established with all Functional Areas include the experts who were involved in organization committees of World Cups in Alpine skiing and Biathlon as well as World Championships in Ice Hockey. By the way, these days the IIHF World Championship Ice Hockey Division I, Group B is organized in Ljubljana including the teams of Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Great Britain, Poland and South Korea.

The report of the Master Plan will be presented at the Executive Committee meeting in Shenzhen, China next May.

Roger Roth and Milan Augustin are confident the OC will be able to organize a successful 2013 Winter Universiade.
