NUSF Representatives at the Technical Meeting

 

Uruguay and Colombia celebrated victories in football tournament at III South American University Games 2010, from 18th to 23rd April, in Curitiba (PR). The competition brings together teams and athletes from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay for tournaments in men’s volleyball, soccer and tennis.

For the opening round of the South American University Games in 2010, this Sunday 18th April, in Pinhão Stage, Uruguay, former champion, beat Chile, 2-0, and Colombia defeated Brazil, 1-0.

Uruguay got the champion trophy at the last edition of the South American Games and shows that is ready to play for a second title. Colombia surprised Brazil in the first match and now the home team needs to win the next games.

The volleyball and tennis tournaments begin today, Monday 19th in the courts of Círculo Military and Graciosa Country Club, respectively.

The volleyball teams of Paraguay and Chile are the first into action, at 08h30, in the gymnasium of Círculo Militar. In sequence play Brazil, former champion of the South American Games, and Colombia.

The team of Unoesc (SC), champion of the Brazilian University League 2009, will represent Brazil in the 2010 edition and try to maintain Brazilian hegemony in the competition.

“Our group is training hard since the beginning of the year. This is the first time we represent Brazil in an international tournament, which further motivates the athletes”, said the coach Nilson Rex.

Opening the Technical Congress of the South American University Games 2010, Saturday night (17th), Alim Maluf Neto, President of South American University Sports Confederation (COSUD), thanked the delegations for their presence. More than 200 people, including athletes, coaches, officials and organizing committee, are in Curitiba.

“Realizing another edition of the South American University Games shows the union and the resurgence of the South American University sport,” said Alim. Julio Jacob, President of ODUPA, is also in Curitiba, watching the Games.

The III South American University Games in Curitiba, from 18th to 23rd April, involves men’s soccer, volleyball and tennis tournaments. The tournament is organized by COSUD with the support of Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU), University Sports Federation of Paraná and the Paraná Government.
