2013 SU Update: Inspection Visit

On April 12th, FISU delegates arrived in Kazan to the effect of interoperation and monitoring the Universiade 2013 habitability. Today, April 13th, the official delegation composed of Director for the Summer Universiade Mark Vandenplas, Media Director Dejan Susovic and Sports Manager Michal Buchel were joined by the Chair of the technical committee, Stavros Duvis. The visit of the committee will last until April 17th.

Within the first day of their stay in Kazan, the delegates inspected the Universiade Village, its building-up and substructure. Mark Vandenplas concluded that for the first time ever the Universiade Village is almost completed 3 years prior to the XXVII Summer Universiade 2013. The first day program presupposed visiting some sport venues which are sports complexes “Zilant”, “Tulpar”, “Tennis Academy”, “Field Hockey Center” and “Sports Palace” where the international media-center is going to be. Some under-construction facilities were also reviewed.

During the next four days the FISU delegates have got a great deal of work ahead of them. On the second day the meeting of the FISU delegation with the President of the Tatarstan Republic Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov is scheduled. Thereafter the delegates will carry on viewing the Universiade venues and will certainly hold sessions on subjects of the Summer Universiade TV broadcasting, its medical maintenance and sports program organization.
