2011 SU Update: CTI Inspection Visit

In the morning session on Wednesday March 23rd, 2010, the FISU Inspection team, headed by Mr. Stavros Douvis, FISU CTI Chair, and accompanied by Marc Vandenplas, FISU Director for Summer Universiade; Mr. Dejan Susovic, FISU Media and Communications Director/Head of TV production; Mr. Dominique Curchod, FISU TV Distribution Consultant and

FISU Sports Manager Michal Buchel had a meeting with Mr. Chen Zhirong, Vice-Chief Editor Director of SZMG, Shenzhen Media Group Company, the newly appointed Host Broadcaster (HB) of 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China.

In a very thorough presentation, the FISU delegates learned about SZMG and its dedication and willingness to provide a high quality TV signal for viewers around the world during the Games.

After a fruitful discussion, both sides agreed on future steps to define the precise schedule of TV transmissions in the months to come.

In the afternoon, Mr. Douvis and Mr. Buchal visited more venues which are under construction. They looked at the venues in the Yantian District for volleyball and basketball and went to the Longgang District to inspect hte venues for sailing and open water swimming. The construction goes according the masterplan and the venues will be delivered to the OC by the end of the year. The sailing venue should be finished by the end of October because the OC wants to organize a test by that time.
