2013 SU Update: Kazan Present at Moscow “Sports 10” Exhibition

The Universiade 2013 Directorate in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan participated in the largest international sports industry exhibition in Russia: “Sports 10”. The united exposition of the Republic of Tatarstan represented information about the Universiade 2013 projects, the Year of sports and healthy lifestyle in Tatarstan, the first All-Russian forum “Russia – Country of Sports”, the Olympic movement and development of participation in student and juvenile sports.

Russian Sports, Tourism and Youth Policies Minister Vitaly Mutko, Deputy Minister Pavel Novikov, Vice-Chairman of the State Duma Svetlana Zhurova, and also representatives of the sports community attended the exhibition`s opening.

Greeting the Tatarstan delegation Vitaly Mutko marked the significance of the Kazan Universiade for the Republic and the country and underlined the well timed construction of the Universiade venues. 11 venues are already commissioned. 64 venues in total will be operational during the Universiade, 36 venues of which are constructed from scratch.

In the framework of the “Sports 10” exhibition the winners of the All-Russian contest were awarded the degrees of best specialists in physical education and sports. The degree was established in 2009 on the initiative of President Dmitry Medvedev. Two Tatarstan teams became winners of the “Sports team of the year” nomination: Russian champions FC Rubin (football) and HC Ak Bars (Ice Hockey).
