Such an agreement was reached during the working visit of the delegation of Tatarstan to the XXI Winter Olympic Games. In Vancouver, the representatives of Tatarstan held several meetings, including a meeting with the representatives of the Simon Fraser University (SFU). After negotiations it was decided to send a team of volunteers of the 2013 Summer Universiade to this university to do some training courses. Moreover, the participation of representatives of Kazan in the Summer Olympics in London in 2012 is planned as well.

Earlier we informed that the delegation of Tatarstan visited the Olympic Games in Vancouver. During the main world sports event the delegation took part in a number of meetings with representatives of international sports federations, the heads of the Organizing Committees of the Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010 and in Sochi 2014, as well as other organizers of the biggest sport events.

In the context of the thematic days of the Russian House in Vancouver a “Day of Kazan” took place, which had a great interest among athletes, tourists and Canadians. Director of the 2013 Universiade and the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism of Tatarstan held a press conference for the global sports community, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of Russia Gennady Aleshin and the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation and legendary goalie Vladislav Tretiak. Vladislav mentioned that the current champion’s title of Kazan teams “Ak Bars” and “Rubin” in Russian championships in ice hockey and football is the remarkable fact of high-level sports development in Tatarstan. “If I wasn’t born in Moscow, I would move to live to Kazan”, – said Vladislav Tretiak. An autograph session with ice hockey players of “Ak Bars” and a cultural program were also held during the “Day of Kazan”.

During their remaining days in Vancouver Tatarstan-dwellers got acquainted with the Olympic Village, which was recognized as one of the best in history of Olympic Games in terms of infrastructure, the International Broadcasting Center and other venues of the Olympics.
