1st AUSF Bridge University Championship Closes

The medallists of the inaugural championship

 

Yesterday, November 30th, 2009, the 1st Asian University Bridge Championship officially came to an end. Three more matches before the end of the competition, China’s Wuhan University Team was leading the competition and going straight for the gold medal. Team Chinese Taipei and Indonesia Unsrat University Team won the silver and bronze respectively. This championship with 8 teams from all around Asia, was very well organized and of a high competition level. Each round, the match was transmitted on internet via bridge base online. After the awarding ceremony, the Closing Ceremony started. An athlete named LU Kechang from the winning team delivered a short speech on behalf of all participants. He expressed his thanks to the Organizing Committee for their careful organization job, to all the participating athletes and officials for their presence and to the staffs in the hotel, whose job made all the participants feel at home. His words just reflected the thinking of all the participants. In the following, Mr. SEE TWO Cheng, AUSF Treasurer, delivered a speech on behalf of the AUSF President. He expressed the gratitude to ICBA and IUSC and showed his confidence on them for bidding for the next AUSF University Bridge Championship, even the FISU World University Bridge Championship. Also, he hoped all the participating students to cherish this opportunity and to make new friends. The 1st Asian University Bridge Championship ended with the slowly lowering of AUSF flags.

After the Closing Ceremony, the OC prepared a banquet for all the participants, who enjoyed the delicious food and beautiful songs, including Chinese Songs, classical and pop Indonesian songs. Later, the participants were invited to learn the Classical Indonesian Dance.

Finally, the OC wished everybody a safe and pleasant journey back to their homes.
