2010 WUC Rowing: Update

On November 11th, 2009 FISU Technical Chair for Rowing Lionel Girard paid a his first inspection visit to Szeged, Hungary, host city of the 2010 World University Rowing Championship.

The rowing courseAccording to the FISU protocol he visited all venues and met the local Organizing Committee. The program started at the “Maty-ér” Olympic Canoeing and Rowing Center, where he was met by András Horváth, Director of the venue, József Szabó, OC Chairman, accompanied by Mrs. Éva Szántó, Director of the competition, Zsuzsanna Ott, Secretary-General of the Hungarian Rowing Federation and Dr. Csaba Hédi, HUSF Secretary-General.

After visiting all the facilities of the venue they discussed the details of the competition program and the technical background. The daily program was interrupted by a short lunch where Mr. Pál Szentgyörgyi, Vice-Mayor of Szeged greeted the guests.

Competitiors’ accommodationIn the afternoon Mr. Girard visited the recently renovated and refurbished student hostels, the accommodation for the participants.

On November 12th Mr. Girard visited the HUSF Headquarters in Budapest, where he summarized his impressions, and his final conclusion was that everything is provided for organizing a successful event in Szeged, the ‘city of sunshine’.
