1st Asian University Women’s Volleyball Championship – Day 2

After the opening speech of Dr.CHUNG Tong Gu (AUSF senior vice president), Dr. Sumate Yamnoon, Secretary General of the office of the Higher Education Commission, the Royal Thai Ministry of Education presided over the opening ceremony of the 1st Asian University Women’s Volleyball Championship at Gymnasium 2, Bangkok Youth Centre (Thai-Japan) on Sunday October 4, 2009. The championship is co-hosted by Bangkok University, the Office of Higher Education Commission and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

The teams at the Opening Ceremony

The championship was unveiled with seven teams participating; namely, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Around 200 officials, referees and athletes participate in the event. All teams will compete against each other towards the final match scheduled on Sunday October 11, 2009. The opening Match was between Thailand and Laos, the National TV “TRUE” broadcast the whole opening ceremony and the opening game on live.
