Yesterday, July 10th, the football tournament at the Universiade came to an end with the men’s and women’s finals.
After an interesting 90 minutes, the Ukrainians celebrated a 3:2 victory over Italy. ‘We played well and won’, said Volodymyra Lozinskyi, coach of the champions. ‘It is difficult to play against a team that has already won one gold medal at the Universiade. This is our third silver medal, but I’m proud to be the captain of this team’, said goalkeeper Fabio Cusaro.
Japan beat Great Britain 1:0 winning the bronze.
The ‘Asian’ final between Korea and Japan in the women’s competition was dominated by the Koreans who outclassed the Japanese 4:1 winning a deserved gold medal.
Great Britain defeated France for the bronze with the same score.
