2009 SU Update: Post Office in Universiade Village

15 June 2009

Public company PPT Transport Serbia CEO Goran Ciric, together with company Universiade Belgrade 2009 CEO Zoran Jovanovic, officially opened the post office No. 52 in the Universiade Village.

The director of Serbian Post Offices opened the new post office the traditional way: by sending a letter to Serbian Prime Minister and President of UB2009 Organization Committee, Mirko Cvetkovic.

‘We are very happy that 15 days before the start of the Universiade we have managed to open this postal unit, proving that the state system can be reliable, too. We have finished work, thanks in great measure to the Universiade Belgrade 2009 people and our postal office employees, who wanted to give their input in preparing this important sports event’, Goran Ciric stated.
The services provided by the post office No. 52 in 12-14, Jurija Gagarina Street will be varied.
‘The young athletes from abroad will be able to see what Post Offices of Serbia can offer their clients: up-to-date electronic services, monetary transactions in cooperation with the Postal Savings Bank, Postal Shop, etc. All this will present our system, Belgrade and Serbia to the world in the best possible way’, Goran Ciric concluded.

The director of the Universiade Village, Ranko Tepavcevic addressed the guests and officials present.
‘There are only 12 days left before the opening of the Universiade Village and before the first guests arrive. For us, the most important thing is that all work is nearing the end. The opening of the post office was one of the last things left to be done. We are very glad to have such a reliable partner and that together, we can bring to fruition all joint dealings’, Ranko Tepavcevic said.

In the Republic Square, in the shopping center ‘Staklenac’, Company PTT Serbia opened an Info Center where visitors to Belgrade can buy philately items and maps, send cards and letters and packages by Postexpress.
