2009 SU Update: Universiade at Air Show in Novi Sad

2 June 2009

Over the weekend, the Universiade volunteers were guests at the air show that is traditionally held at the sports airport “Cenej” near Novi Sad.

Friends of the Universiade from the sports club “Galeb” showed volunteers their planes that will carry the Universiade mascot, Srba, the sparrow, on their wings in honor of this year’s biggest sports event.

Some 10,000 spectators enjoyed the air show. Sixty airplanes took part in the program that lasted nearly six hours. Parachutists opened the show and were followed by aerobatics shown by clubs from Hungary, Bulgaria, Rumania and other countries in the region.

Club “Galeb” from Belgrade has taken part in many air shows in Europe. They will promote the Universiade in the coming months at air shows in the Check Republic, in Croatia and in Austria.
