2009 SU Update: Canadian Embassy Delegation in University Village

8 May 2009

On Wednesday, April 29th, the Canadian Embassy delegation visited the University Village in Belgrade, where athletes will be living during the forthcoming Summer Universiade.

The Members of delegation were: Counselor and Consul Bill Milner, Chief of Security John Devoe and Embassy’s Consular Affairs Associate Milica Dacic.

The Canadian delegation will be one of the biggest at the Universiade; it will have 370 members. Since they are to reside in the University Village, the Canadian Embassy sent its representatives to check on accommodation and logistic capacities of the Organization Committee. The Embassy representatives visited the Village and the “Wallflower” building, where Canadian athletes will be lodged. They met with the UB2009 venues director and discussed all aspects of the stay of the Canadian delegation in Belgrade.

Cooperation with embassies and diplomatic missions to Serbia is of great importance for the UB2009 organization team. They appreciate all suggestions as to organization and security at a big sports event such as the Universiade.

The 25th Universiade will be held in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Pancevo, Smederevo, Indjija and Vrsac, between July 1st and July 12th, 2009.
