2009 SU Update: Universiade Promotion in Banja Luka

Promotion of Universiade Belgrade 2009 was organized today in Banja Luka. In the Government of the Republic of Srpska Press Center, the world’s biggest sports event in 2009 was presented to representatives of the University, officials, businessmen and media. University delegation was headed by the president of UB2009 Executive Committee, Nebojsa Ilic. Radmila Hrustanovic, deputy mayor of Belgrade and member of UB 2009 Executive Committee, and Vlade Divac, president of Serbian Olympic Committee, addressed the audience.

The prime minister of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, received the Belgrade University delegation.

Besides presenting Universiade, a project of great importance to the region, the promotion was organized with the intention of encouraging young people from the Republic of Srpska to join their Serbian colleagues at the Universiade as volunteers. The promotion was organized at Banja Luka University and in the main town square. More than three hundred young people filled volunteer applications in only a few hours. It is expected that, with the cooperation of Banja Luka University, three hundred more will join them. Promotion received wide coverage of the Republic of Srpska media.
