CZE – CAN 1-3 (0-0, 1-2, 0-1)

It was a tight and very physical game between Czech Republic and Canada. Especially after a scoreless first period the game could still go either way. The Czechs got into a frenzy when they opened the score and took the lead two minutes into the second via a powerplay goal. Eight minutes later Ross equalizes the score for Canada. Wolf and Jakes (CZE) go to the sin bin for tripping and hooking respectively and the Canadians efficiently use the powerplay to put a two on the scoreboard. In the third Hellyer settles the final score with a third goal.

JPN – KOR 5-2 (0-0, 1-2, 4-0)

The Asian clash between Japan and Korea ended in favor of Team Nippon. After a scoreless first, the Koreans took the lead in the second period. However, in the third, the Japanese got back into the game scoring four goals, one shorthanded.
